Ten Months Old

Dear Zachary,

You're ten months old now, and you are no longer my little baby...you're my squirmy, vocal, growing-by-the second baby! You are TALL! The outfit you're wearing is the photo below is size 18 months! Wow! Jeremy's preschool teacher commented the other day that you have the long, thin fingers of a pianist.

Over the past few days, you've begun to crawl--only one or two "steps", but I can tell that it won't be long now before you're going to be all over the house and into everything.

I'm so extremely proud of you. Your every accomplishment makes my heart swell with pride! Whether it's learning to crawl, getting a new tooth, or just engaging me with a smile, it's all I can do not to tell every person I know what a wonder you are! (I guess I'm kind of doing that now, huh?)

Even so, my favorite moments with you are late at night when I get you out of bed to give you your last bottle of the day. You're usually sleeping and cuddly and I relish those sweet moments because I know the days of holding you in my arms won't last forever. Oh, dear...I never saw myself becoming a huge stereotype who spouts stereotypical clichés, but here I go: No matter how old you get, you'll always be my baby boy.

I'll be forever grateful to God for giving me YOU for a son, Zachary. As you continue to grow, become more independent and follow His path for you, know that I'll be here for--praying for you, loving you, and forever holding you in my heart.

I love you always and forever,
Mama

Ack! He's growing so fast! And he's ADORABLE. It's funny how kids make you understand all of those mushy platitudes that other parents gush on about, isn't it?

My dad said that when we connected, when I was 21, he went around showing my picture to everyone, even strangers, the way you do when you have a new baby. :) He's mushy that way, so it's not a shock. But still.
