Eleven Months Old

Dear Zachary,

You're eleven months old! You're growing so fast and I'm just loving this stage of life with you!

The last six weeks or so have been so much fun...you're crawling, pulling up and becoming more independent...and with that independence your personality continues to emerge. You smile easily, laugh, babble and SCREAM the most high-pitched screech!

This morning, at breakfast, I noticed that your fifth tooth (a top tooth) has broken through the gum. I feel so proud of each and every one of your milestones.

Daddy and I fall more and more in love with you and Jeremy every day (if that's even possible)! We're so taken with your handsomeness.  :)  It seems like we would be used to it by now, but we daily marvel at what handsome sons we have!

If we're charmed by your good looks, we're over-the-moon thrilled with the inner you that shines through each and every day. You have a beautiful and sweet spirit, and I'm so excited to see how your personality continues to emerge as you continue to grow.

I love you...always and forever,
Mama

On the move!

"Hey Mom, look what I found!"

"Don't worry about me, Mom... I've been pulling up on things for days now!"

Six Months Home

Today marks our six month anniversary home together as a family of four! All I can say is, "Ahhhh." It feels natural now, like we're in a groove and a routine that is working. Brian and I are still tired at the end of the day, but we're not exhausted like we were during those first few months home.

Our sons are doing great! They are so well-adjusted and we love them so!

In honor of being home for six months, Zach decided to do a new trick today! See for yourself!

Awesome visit with another ET Adoptive Family

Ten years ago, I got to know a wonderful woman named Carrie. At the time, she was pregnant with her first child. She now has five children, the youngest of whom they adopted from Ethiopia about a year before we adopted our boys. They live overseas, but are currently stateside, so we seized the moment to get our kids together and to catch up a bit. She took some wonderful photos of the kids that I want to share with you:

Selah and Zachary... they loved each other!

Makaria and Jeremy. Don't they look adorable in their matching colors?
(We went to a parade over the weekend, and Jeremy LOVES his Mardi Gras beads!)

Three Ethiopian-American cuties!

God has been so gracious and good to me, giving me sweet times with old friends lately. And I'm very thankful for this visit! I'm also thankful that we've gotten to know so many other families who have adopted from Ethiopia. I think it will be so wonderful for these kids to grow up knowing other kids who share their story and history!
