A Family Outing to "The Blue Nile"

Brian's Mom was in town for a vist last week. We had such a great time with her. (I have a great mother-in-law!) We thought that while she was in town we would go out for Ethiopian food at The Blue Nile.

Then we thought, "Why not make it a family affair?", so we invited my mom, and my sister and her family!

Brian and I have adventuresome palates, so trying Ethiopian food was no big deal for us. My sister, on the other hand, is a little more skittish about it. Plus, she's pregnant, so she already has a queasy tummy to begin with. So I give BIG PROPS to my sis for jumping in! Thanks, Jilly!

Sammy didn't try the Ethiopian food, but he sure loved walking around the restaurant with his Uncle Brian taking in all of the decorations and new things to see!

It was a real blessing to have our whole family around the table at The Blue Nile...

We sure can't wait for our child/ren to join us soon. They were the only ones missing!

What a great photo of you and Brian! Damon and I are also adventurous eaters and Damon loved Ethiopian food from the start. I liked it but wasn't a fan of the injera initially but now I really like it. Maybe we will eat Ethiopian food together IN Ethiopia!! :) A girl can hope, right?!

Hi Mrs. Buster!

A girl can TOTALLY hope! And given our close proximity on the wait list, maybe it will happen...it would be a joy to get to know y'all!

I hope your wait is going well. For us the first 4 months flew by, but for some reason, the past two weeks have passes SO SLOWLY!

I'm definitely feeling ready to get our referral!

Hey Tracy! I think the odds of us traveling together are pretty high! I also thought the first 4 months flew by and now it is really starting drag. I think it is made worse by the fact that things have been SO slow lately. I am trying not to get to wrapped up in it but it is SO HARD! I'm here for you whenever you need it!!

First off... JILLY'S PREGNANT? YAY!

My favorite Ethiopian restaurant around these parts is also called "The Blue Nile" but my all time favorite Ethiopian place is a tiny little co-op kitchen in Victoria BC of all places. Mmmmm so good!

Whenever I visit my brother in Victoria I always make sure we schedule in a meal at Messob Ethiopian Cuisine.

What a wonderful post, with family and good food and the longing for completeness that your little one(s) will bring!
I've had Ethiopian food only once, at a little restaurant in the University district in Seattle. I was a bit of a picky eater at that stage of life, but I still thought it was delicious. :)

We adore ethiopian food, and I'm sure once Sammy tries it, he'll love it too. Maya always has, especially the injira, or as she calls it, 'squishy bread'. Yum!

Congrats to Jilly! Great news. Except for the queasy part, that is.
