Seven Months!

Today marks seven months on the waiting list. The average wait time for families (adopting an infant from Ethiopia) to be matched with their baby is around nine months, but in the past week, five families have received referrals--that's a lot for one week!

Very quickly, we've seen our name get closer and closer to the top of the "unofficial" wait list! There are two families ahead of us waiting for referrals for an infant. Both families have requested "either gender" and so have we!

I've been e-mailing almost daily with the Busters, who are currently in the #1 spot on the unofficial wait list for both a boy and a girl! I can't wait to find out who their little one will be!

Needless to say, things have gotten much more exciting! We are still guarding our hearts, as things could slow down as quickly as they seem to have speeded up, but it is possible that we could be getting "the call" pretty soon!

Please pray for us and for the other waiting families--that God will protect our children as they wait for their forever families, and also that He would place the children in the families that He has in mind for them!

I'll try to update a little more frequently now that we are nearing the top of the list!

Yes, you're getting close! We are right behind all of you "either genders", waiting for a boy - and getting excited!

I understand the lengthy wait, as well - and will be praying for you all! Blessings on your marriage during this time - you will not have "alone" time for many years once you receive your little blessing, so cherish it now!

Brian & Tracy, being an international adoptive mom I know intimately what you are feeling at this point. When you are at those moments when each hour, min, second feel like an eternity remember it is all worth it & more! For me the home stretch was the most difficult...praying for God to make his hand clear to you both at the moments most needed! Blessings! Carolann

Very exciting, and I hope dearly that your time comes soon.

It breaks my heart that you have to guard your heart like this. But if there's any comfort, most women guard their hearts while pregnant as well, in case the pregnancy doesn't end well.

I don't think there's comfort to be found there, actually, but I do wish that guarding your heart weren't so important and understandable and necessary at this stage. I'm looking forward to the part where your heart isn't guarded anymore. Like how you guard your heart before, or just upon meeting, a true love. And once you know they're your love, you let that guard down completely. I'm looking forward to you looking at your baby's face, and holding him/her in your arms, and the possibilities of problems fading away forever.
