Time with Nana

For those of you who don't know this, my husband and I moved from California to Texas a year and a half ago. One of the joys of living back in Texas (and now raising our kids here) is being close to my Mom (aka Nana). Instead of living half a country away, we are now just an hour away. I'm thrilled that my kids will grow up with a close relationship with her. When I was a child growing up in Texas, one set of my grandparents lived in California and the other lived in Florida. I loved them and knew them, but only saw them once or twice a year. So the fact that my kids see their Nana every week is special.

Jeremy is nuts over Nana. Every time my cell phone rings, he wants to know if it is her. He asks if we're going to Nana's house, and when he sees a white car, he proclaims, "Nana! Beep beep!"

My mom has started coming down to my house once a week to hang out with us, and we LOVE it! Thank you for being in our lives, Mom/Nana! We love you.

Your children are so blessed!

I grew up far away from both sets of grandparents. I saw them only a handful of times in my memory, so I'm grateful that my kids see their grandparents at least once a year.

That is so awesome... what a blessing. It's important to us, too. Andrew sees my mom every day and his other grandparents a few times a month.

I grew up both ways. We lived in Alaska, thousands of miles away from my Grandparents. I was older, and my Grandma and I were great pen pals. Then we moved to California, to the same city where she lived, and we both moved once, and then she and my Grandpa lived a block away. I used to go over to her house and eat pork chops when my mom was trying to raise us vegetarian. Yay for Grandmas! I still adore mine, and she's just over an hour away. :)

And how wonderful that your mom makes that drive every week. She's an amazing Grandma.
